Hey guys! It’s the weekend, woo! And guess what? Yes, how did you guess… I am doing a review for you! I know that the reviews might be getting a teency bit repetitive and I’m very sorry for that. However, the only reason I haven’t been doing general ‘teen/book/beauty blog’ posts are because I am waiting on my new camera which I am getting soon because my old one broke. Since the photos for these posts were taken when my camera was working I am just going to get them over and done with. I could use my good old iPhone to take pictures for new posts, as I have done already for one or two posts, but I don’t think that you guys want to see an excessive amount of crappy photos sooo….. ramble over!
Today I am reviewing the Organic Skincare Collection by Pukka Herbs* which comes with five 10ml products with a sample sized product for you to try out. It retails for £18.90 but is on offer for £14.90 which is a very good price for the brand! Furthermore, I really like the idea of a collection that has five sample size products in it for you to try so that you don’t have to go and spend a heap on a tonne of products you don’t like. This way, you can try out the miniature products and purchase the products you do like knowing that you will use them. Anyway, let’s move on to the actual products. Unfortunately, I can’t go into too much into detail as there was only 10ml to try out and you can’t really give a full judgement on such a small amount of product.
1) Gentle Cleanser – click HERE
This really is a gentle cleanser; it has a natural smell, is like a lotion and doesn’t feel harsh upon application. It balances excessive oiliness without harshness. Also, it has a lotion-like appearance and texture which is different to the usual cleansers that I have tried out and this means that it doesn’t foam up. Surprisingly it still does an amazing job at cleansing. I used this a few times for removing my makeup too and it did a good job!
2) Radiance Serum – click HERE
There is not much to say about this because in my opinion it basically acts as a light moisturiser. Despite it being a ‘radiance serum’ it is a very light consistency and almost a watery gel.
3) Uplifting Toner – click HERE
I actually really liked this toner; the packaging is great along with the product. I used it until it was finished! I didn’t really see a noticeable difference to my skin but it is very important to tone (look out for a post dedicated to toning) after cleansing for many reasons. This product didn’t break me out so it definitely was a product I liked.
4) Deep Moisture Day Cream – click HERE
The name given to this cream sort of fixes in the words greasy and oily into my head. However, it was neither and does a great job of moisturising without being too heavy. If you have oily skin, I wouldn’t recommend this for you. A negative about this product is that the smell is pretty unbearable to me. Although it is fairly unavoidable for an organic company, this was way too strong for me. I feel like products with strong smells usually do bad for me so I shied away from this.
5) Nourishing Night Cream – click HERE
Again with this, the smell is just overwhelming! The cream is good but in my opinion the smell is not worth the sacrifice!
6) Firming Face Oil – click HERE
This oil comes in the most annoying 2ml sample sachet. I haven’t got a picture of this, which I am sorry about, I just forgot to take one. For a start though, it was a pain to open! I guess I should have used scissors but after I tore it open some of it did fall out onto the floor. It’s lucky that I have a tiled floor in the bathroom! Once I had what was left of the product on my hand, I found that I had way too much for my face so I had to rub it all over my hands as well ad my face. After looking in the mirror I realised that I had become an oily mess – not a look I try to go for. However, after using a tissue to blot my face the oiliness completely vanishes and I was left with an amazing satiny finish! My skin felt fantastic, soft and very hydrated. I actually love this more that the day and night cream. This is very shocking because I didn’t think that oil was good for a combination skin gyal. To think I only used this once, I really like this and am go out and purchase the full size! Especially since it has a spray applicator, so there will be no problems with the application!
Although I have complained a lot about the smell with this set. You have got to keep in mind that this is an organic brand so it clearly hasn’t been using any chemicals to quench the smell. Also, I feel that the day and night creams are a bit too heavy for my skin, which is combination/oily, so I do think that they would give much better results to those of you with dry skin. Overall, my favourite products were the gentle toner, firming face oil and the uplifting toner because I feel like they did the best for my skin.
I hope you liked the review guys! I have got to say that it is not one of the best sets that I have tried but as i have said a few products definitely stood out for me.
